Mrs C, Mum of Joseph age 11 (language disorder & dyslexia – assessment)

“Lucy assessed Joseph 6 months before his transition to secondary school. The assessment helped to identify the different difficulties he had related to dyslexia and language. It meant that we could tell his secondary school more about his needs and what help he would need. This made me feel so much more comfortable about the transition and the advice Lucy gave after the testing has been invaluable.”

Mrs T, Mum of Tom age 7 (Childhood Apraxia of Speech)

“Tom found primary 1 really tough. He needed lots of extra support to do his phonics work and his friends couldn’t understand what he was saying. Lucy worked alongside his school staff to support them to help Thomas in class, groups and during his short ANA sessions. He is now half way through p2 and we couldn’t thank Lucy enough for her help. He is happy, can communicate with his pals and his staff confidently use strategies with him. An effective approach and a great way with kids and parents too!”

Mrs J, Mum of Ethan age 8 (speech & language delay – assessment & therapy)

“Ethan had been fine at the start of primary school but he started to struggle and then stopped making progress in lots of areas of the curriculum. We didn’t know what to do. His teacher recommended Lucy to us. She saw him for an assessment then 6 therapy sessions at home. Lucy’s assessment identified some difficulties he had with phonological awareness and vocabulary. She taught him to use some techniques and shared work with his class teacher. He got over a massive bump and now has some tools in his toolkit he still uses. I’m so thankful we did this assessment and therapy. His confidence could have been knocked and he may have struggled more without this support.”

Mrs K, Mum of Blake age 3 (speech sound disorder – direct therapy)

“Blake was really trying to talk but he was talking his own little language. Lucy came to our house and played with him then wrote up a detailed report for us and his nursery teachers. She wrote a really clear plan of what we could try to do to help him with his talking. It took a while but by the time he went to school his words were much clearer and he had already learnt a lot about sounds. It was a weight off my shoulders to have this all sorted before he started school.”

Head Teacher of Specialist School in Essex (in service training and consultation)

“I invited Lucy to talk to my staff at an in service day after hearing her speak at a conference. She was very engaging, talked passionately and gave time for a Q and A at the end of her workshop. She gave staff differentiated advice about supporting individual children in their classes, demonstrating knowledge and expertise supporting children across a wide age range and with very different needs. Very useful training session. I would book her again.”

Harriet B, Mum of Claudia age 4 (stammer supported remotely)

Our 3 year old daughter developed a stammer very suddenly, after having been a very articulate speaker. Over the next few months Lucy supported me so fantastically remotely, both on the phone, zoom and by email. Lucy explained everything to me so clearly, and helped me (and my husband) guide our daughter through it, which was so important as at the time we were in lockdown. Lucy advised it was most likely developmental dysfluency and believed it would disappear after a few months with the correct environment and supports. She was completely right. It happened very slowly, but after 3 months it was hardly noticeable anymore and a year later we know how to manage it as it comes and goes less and less. Lucy’s help was invaluable to us and I have no doubt this has had a huge influence on my daughter’s speech fluency. Without Lucy, both my husband and I would have behaved differently and I don’t think we would have been able to support our daughter in the calm way that we did. We wouldn’t have known how to help her and could have raised her anxiety and had a negative effect on her fluency. I can’t recommend Lucy enough, and can’t thank her enough for her help with our family.
